The Blue Mountains celebrated International Women’s Day in style, with events at Springwood Hub and Katoomba High School.

The Hub’s ‘Count Her In’ festival included:
– Panel discussions with Blue Mountains women
– Livestream talks ‘We need to talk about porn’ and ‘Our bodies’ from the Opera House’s All About Women festival
– A performance by Hands, Heart and Feet
– Morning tea and lunch.

The event was a join initiative of local community services, including: Blue Mountains Women’s Health Centre, Springwood Neighourhood Centre, Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre, and BMCC.

Katoomba High School joined the festivities, inviting local community to a WomenKIND breakfast. The event included:
– special guest speaker, Shanell Dargan (X-factor competitor and professional boxing champion)
– a panel of inspiring women, including Local Woman of the Year, Ailie Banks
– a delicious breakfast.

Student festivities continued into the day, with lots of money raised for charity.
